"Unanswered‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌": A modern classical reflection.

"Unanswered" – A journey of melody and mood, captured in every pluck of the guitar strings.
Martin Howard

Martin Howard is a British guitarist who mixes classical with the stylistic elements of folk, blues, and rock music. As a pioneer of original instrumental compositions, his mode of performance is both solo and collaborative, thus emotionally expressing the power of the guitar as the most vocal instrument. After‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ the release of his debut single, The Night Train, in 2020, Martin's evolving, unique narrative instrumental storytelling style has been largely influenced by his melodic storytelling, subtle fingerpicking, and ambient layering.

"Unanswered" is a reflective solo classical guitar piece performed by Martin Howard on his inherited 50-year-old ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌instrument.

The music features a perfect balance of relaxation and engagement as the composer intertwines light strums, uninterrupted melodic lines, and delicate rhythmic changes that reflect conscious introspection. Its languid, inquiring voice conveys the atmosphere of reflection, thus calling the listeners to stay longer and immerse themselves in the unresolved emotions presented. Martin’s dexterity is on display in the fluid fingerpicking and skilful phrasing, which makes the work a beautiful blend of simplicity and complexity.

Likewise, gentle runs alternate with tranquil chord passages, thus layering the texture without letting the composition lose its charm. The work demonstrates Martin’s ability to tell stories through music alone, whereby he creates moments of emotional connection that seem neither old nor new. Unanswered is a sound of the artist capable of holding the listener's attention and rewarding the attentive ears as well as a perfect one for relaxed listening; indeed, it reflects the profundity of Martin Howard’s artistry and the timelessness of modern classical ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌guitar.
