Tholly Breaks the Cycle with "Moonlit Habit"

Tholly turns heartbreak and personal pain into a heartfelt, melodic critique.
Tholly

"Moonlit Habit" transforms suffering into healing. Tholly, based in Lexington, is a musician who mixes rap and melody and shares aspects of his life in his music. Starting as a vocalist-rapper between 2019 and 2022 and slowly leaning more into singing, Tholly is grateful in 2025 for opening up and developing a sound that is more vulnerable and melodic. Artists like Witt Lowry influenced him, and he attempts to pack as much rhythm and emotion into his vocals as possible. He named himself in honor of his friend and collaborator, Trigga Man Mic, and his home studio has become a safe place for productive self-expression.

"Moonlit Habit" is Tholly's dedication to turning heartbreak, confusion, and personal hardship into an intensely personal account of the cycles.

Tholly

Written during the hardest seven months of breakup, custody dispute, and return to his Georgia home, the track delivers the emotion without being consumed by it.

Tholly's hip-hop experience is evident in the natural flow of the production and lyricism. Though songs in his genre have repetitive melodies and superficial vocal arrangements, he has a more refined artistic voice. The interplay of the song's rhythmic and melodic elements brings out the tension of wanting to escape. Moonlit Habit” moves beyond heartbreak to explore accountability, self-awareness, and healing. Its honest perspective makes the song relatable, while its melodic approach gives Tholly’s story a memorable emotional resonance.
