"Givin’ It All Away": A blend of serenity, emotion, and musical depth.

Exceptional Failures is a duo from Portland whose music is something radically different from the usual two-guys band kind of thing. By having real feelings and, at the same time, giving a full blast, Distler and Damian practically go through a process of turning disorder into order in music and genres—that is, from soul and funk to punk and classic rock. Calling their live shows a vibrant energy and a bold work method, they have earned a fan base safe in the fact that they’ll always get from them unfiltered honesty, daring soundscapes, and genre-bending inventiveness.
"Givin' It All Away" is an amazingly empathetic record from “Exceptional Failures”.

The piece starts with a mellow electronic shimmer, as if a kind and tender call to the audience to come into the musical world that is both small and large at the same time. Merged voices of the band members, soft acoustic works, and smooth production all serve to bring out a warm vibe, but indeed it is the bamboo flute that elevates the track to a whole different tier of catchiness. Actually, it’s only after the second chorus that the flute solo—like a deep breath of relief—quietly but powerfully takes over.
