"The Wishing Well" by 2002 is a journey through memory, magic and time.

"The Wishing Well" is an album that feels like a shared dream, gently unfolding one memory at a time.

2002 - The Wishing Well

For more than thirty years, 2002 has been one of the most consistent and inventive voices in new age music. The three-piece husband and wife team, Pamela and Randy Copus and their daughter, Sarah, have developed a sound that is ambient and calm, with orchestral and retro in its rock. 2002's music goes beyond the genre as it tells emotional stories and has released 12 Billboard, charting albums and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from One World Music Radio. Also known as "the first family of new age music, " the trio's music is still changing, and at the same time, it is deeply embedded in the elements of awe, intimacy, and spiritual resonance.

Through The Wishing Well, 2002 brings the audience into a scenario where the co-mingling of memory, imagination, and melody is quite natural.

Quite heartfelt and at the same time eternal, the album is a pool of snippets of times gone, present thoughts, and future wishes.

Overture: The Restless Heart: The album lays bare a bold declaration of who they are. The arrival of beautiful strings is followed by the appearance of playful rhythmic textures and percussive vocal flourishes, which then become an elegant conversation between Pamela's flute, Randy's guitar, and Keyreel Raskolenkos emotionally charged violin.

Three Wishes: This piece is based on Arabian folklore and is a mix of flute and guitar, which is gentle, and the transformation from these two instruments gives off a vibe of wonder like that of a child. The song is like a whisper and gives the impression that each note is flowing in the air. It is close, cosy, and quietly enchanting.

2002 - The Wishing Well

Moon Lore: Surrounding the piano, Moon Lore is essentially a quiet, introspective, and astral time with the moon as the central metaphor and the lyrics drawing from the symbol and the wisdom of the times past.

On the Wings of Angels: This track is melodious and heavenly, with orchestral strings and angelic voices. The true wonder of the song lies in how it has inspired a spiritual uplift so beautifully combined with the string ensemble and angelic voices.

Twilight: It is a fragile harp, led piece that illustrates the innocence of childhood summer evenings, so that it sounds like a memory captured in a musical piece. Its allure is the sheer simplicity of the composition that can bring out a feeling of longing for the past without the sense of sentimentality.

A Safe Harbor: Rounded with a soft caressing of the piano and the orchestra, the song's writing is balanced, peaceful, yet engaging. Even though it is soothing to the listener, the topmost layer of the melody still carries a quiet determination; thus, the idea of a refuge is conveyed, a place not to be held back but to be prepared for your next step.

The Spiral of Heaven: Stars fill the sky, which is, in both its depth and vastness, infinite, and one feels that the work is a very, very, wide and captivating development of nature. The instrument represents the voice of solitude in loneliness in the desert, and it expresses emotions such as admiration, patience and reverence that are the feelings one experiences in front of the wonders of nature.

Dream Chasers: The playful piece Dream Chasers mimics the creative spirit of the early 2002 days like a mirror. A continuous flow of energetic synthesisers, a magical choir, fashionable vocals, harp, guitar, and flute all chase each other through melodious weaving, thus the artistic discovery and youthful ambition as two characters in a musical chase become excited.

Some albums feel like stories whispered rather than songs performed; this album is a must listen.
