Spring Forward by Tim Ellis wraps humour and honesty in every note.

Tim Ellis - Spring Forward

Tim Ellis is a singer and songwriter living in Brooklyn. In addition to music, he does stand-up comedy and acts. One of his characteristics is his use of humour in his songs. "Songs of the Seasons", his EP series, uses the lyrics to expose the funny side of the emotional changes that each of the seasons brings. Ellis, who is inspired by the likes of Jonathan Richman and Elvis Costello, is making music both fun and insightful. Besides music, he had done many live shows in NYC and was also seen on TV, in theatres, and in comedy clubs.

Tim Ellis Wraps a Year in Song: Spring Forward

Tim Ellis - Spring Forward

It is like an intuitive feeling that everyone can relate to. Tim Ellis plays with the little discord caused by daylight and showcases a fresh start. The soft music production opens up the tune, allowing it to express the mood, not forcing the feeling. There is a down-to-earth honesty in his singing that the joke seems to come out naturally, never artfully. The lead guitar by Phil from St. Divine brings the song alive by providing a rich and cosy feel. This is a very basic song that manages to portray emotions on a deeper level, showing Ellis' ability not only to find moments from daily life but to turn these into quietly profound and musically captivating ones.
