This EP holds the essence of Latin heritage while being universally expressible.

Michellar is an artist from San Francisco, United States. An integral part of her art is honoring her roots and traditions, which she does brilliantly in her new EP, ‘My Alma Latina’, released on July 25, 2025, with the presence of producer Lloyd Miller of Spirit Song Studios. The EP welcomes us with ‘California Fields, ’ a track with soft brushes of country vibes and melodies holding the Latin bounce.
She talks about California fields and her emotional connections to the place. The rhythm and flow of the song are carefully changed in the bridge, capturing the absurdity of dreams and the underlying fear that comes with marking a place as home. As the music ends with Michellar’s soft humming, we are taken to the colorful beats of ‘Ave Marie’ with Lloyd Miller, welcoming us with his serene vocals. In this song, Michellar didn’t just make prayers an expression away from religion, but with the help of Miller’s amazing voice movements, it also denotes the different emotions carried in a prayer.
"Michellar's music takes you to a realm with a rich sonic atmosphere."

As we move forward, we are teased back with the vibes of California fields, but now with the presence of Miller’s amazing voice in ‘If It’s Only for One Night’. As Miller sings, ‘love me, love me, love me’ along the main chorus, you can’t help but admire the amazing use of epizeuxis in the song to represent the depths of human desperation. The emotional rise the song ends on makes you think how cleverly it was curated to be embellished in the listener’s mind long after.
The ocean references in the lyrics, with Christina’s all-so-sweet voice, give the song a dark, sultry tone, almost like a siren’s song. The way Christina and Michelle embraced the dark femininity theme in this song almost gives the EP a whole twist.
The emotional rise that we were left on with ‘if it’s only for one night’ and the highs explored in ‘the deep’ are now humbled by the calming tones in ‘samba with me tonight’. The song talks about leaving, yet entertaining the kind thought of enjoying what's present in the moment, the subtle dance a person does before leaving anything.
As the music ends, you come face to face with the emotional rollercoaster you’ve been on, but the whispering notes of the melodies keep you steady.
