Michael‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Cohen's “My Evil Twin”: The mirror of heartbreak and healing.

A melodic shove to the gut with themes of heartbreak, self-reflection, and bravery.
Michael‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Cohen

Michael Cohen is a Miami- and D.C.-based singer-songwriter melding indie rock, power pop, and soulful storytelling. He is also a self-taught producer. He was producing his debut concept album, Living in Dadeland — a bare and honest account of love, loss, and going back to the roots. His works are packed with the same vibes and characters of Dylan, The Beatles, and the 70s rock, but are less or more of an emotional honesty, which is both intimately and broadly packaged, thus Cohen becomes a striking vanguard of the modern indie scene.

Michael Cohen’s “My Evil Twin” employs the use of piercing guitars and a forceful melody to communicate the emotional shock brought about by sudden heartbreak.

The 1:55-minute track is emotionally charged. Cohen (vocals) moves smoothly from a reflective, wounded tone to one of defiant strength, while the production by the corresponding artists is crisp, and it is this very element that reflects the engagement of heartbreak and self-realization. In the depths of its catchy rhythms is the tale of losing the one you love, being confused, and longing to “unsay what he said.” My Evil Twin stands as a testimony of whose side they are on and of the inner strength to the brokenhearted, thus paving the way for the introspective upcoming album.
