"Wait, Sky" is a raw, heartfelt journey through queer identity, grief, and growth, solidifying Rundle’s voice in indie art-rock.

Jesse Blake Rundle, a Boise-based singer, dropped an incredible track, "Wait, Sky", on July 29, 2025. The twelve-track album is his most appreciated work to date, characterised by layers of guitars, lo-fi vibes, and thought-provoking ideas. It's more than just an album; it’s him opening up entirely—sharing his experiences with heartbreak and reinvention. The track comes straight from the chaos of reality. Jesse curated his art after a brutal breakup during a queer artist residency amid some moody Washington rainforest.
Ellison, his producer/mentor/genius friend from Radiation City and Cardioid, helped wrangle all those fragments into something haunting and cinematic. This track has experimental beats, raw punches, and the whole thing flows—like, the story blends.
Their creative partnership started in a songwriting class, and they have infused the album with fearless honesty and experimental depth. This track started as a thought but resulted in a perfect story.
Songs like “Depose,” “Anything,” and “Light” dive into raw feelings and strength. Parts of the song were recorded outdoors in Boise parks, mixed with natural sounds of birds and rivers, which reflect themes of losing control and things falling apart. Both the title track and the final song, “End, Sky,” bring together the album’s big emotions and bold sound.

Rundle’s deep connection to field recordings and Boise’s indie music scene shines throughout. From thunderclaps recorded mid-storm to spontaneous bike-ride revelations, "Wait, Sky" is an album built from raw emotion and creative instinct. It’s like a storm you didn’t expect but somehow were waiting for all along.
"Wait, Sky" follows his 2023 releases, Artefacts of Water and Next Town’s Trees, solidifying Rundle’s place in the modern art-folk and indie landscape.
“Wait, Sky” drifts through the emotions after heartbreak, mixing soft sounds and honest lyrics in a reflection on power, silence, and self-discovery.
“Wait, Sky” isn’t just put in the middle of the album for show—it’s the emotional center that keeps everything together. The song features cool analogue sounds and guitar in the background, and the lyrics really stand out. Throughout the track, it feels like Rundle is openly sharing all his grief and personal struggles, without holding anything back.

Rundle spent time in a rainy, lush Washington rainforest during a queer artist residency, surrounded by nature. The song “Wait, Sky” feels like it’s frozen in a special moment—gentle, yet surprisingly strong, like a wildflower standing tall in a storm. You can hear small sounds in his music, like kids playing, leaves moving, and water flowing. Then, the beat slowly appears, steady and calm.
Rundle’s singing in this track feels very close and personal, almost like he’s sharing secrets with the wind. The lyrics are honest about the empty feeling after everything falls apart, capturing that quiet “waiting” time when you’re just trying to make sense of what happened. The song sounds distant, with natural field noises mixed in, making it feel a bit dreamy and mysterious. It’s messy, haunting, and has a special, magical vibe.
This track doesn’t resolve; instead, it stays hanging, like a storm waiting to start, and it's a hard-to-explain feeling. The link is provided below—definitely worth a listen, redefining the calm & chaos of the world.
