“House of Leaves” - A maze of sound, where each turn reveals a new layer.

William J. Sullivan is an iconic, genre-defying producer, mixer, and visionary from Long Beach. He was previously operating out of Studio 4 in Philly, and now, he has a slew of records with Kid Cudi, Rosalía, Phoebe Bridgers, and Denzel Curry. His signature sound is a mixture of hip-hop, metal, classical, jazz, and experimental electronica. Sullivan is a single artist who, with his works, brings the elements of complexity, narrative, and intricately layered sonic elements into the fray.
"House of Leaves" is a convoluted, ever-changing hip-hop journey through the offbeat story chaos of a novel.
Sullivan animates a brooding, moody ambience of guitars, bass, and the ever-changing melodies that are almost like living, developing, and branching out just like the book’s sinister house. SharpKnel’s PremRock and Curly Castro give energetic, metaphor-filled verses, packed with politics, societal collapse, and literary references, tightly woven. The song’s layered sound and the pressing subject matter make it both deeply engaging and troubling; thus, it is able to convey the breaking of the world under the mounting pressure. As the hybrid sound and the conceptual profundity are there, "House of Leaves" can be seen as a daring, cinematic offshoot in the widening creative universe of Sullivan.
