From inertia to intention: Michael Wu discovers a new path with "Better Way".

A luminous guitar-led statement of Indie rock with simple tunes, truthful self-examination, and continual progress.

Michael Wu- better way

Michael Wu is an indie rock singer and multi-instrumentalist from Upstate New York who writes songs that are very melodic, mainly based on jangly guitars and emotional reserve. His music picks the elements from classic bands such as R. E. M., Johnny Marr, Beach Fossils, and early Death Cab for Cutie, and his songs feature a mix of perspicacity, warmth and clarity. Michael has been a bass player for several years in the local communities of Ithaca and Binghamton, and in 2025, he chose to work alone, totally wrapped up in his songwriting and softly but powerfully delivering the essence of the area in his art.

Better Way reveals Michael Wu at a crossroads both artistically and emotionally.

Michael Wu- better way

This tune, based on the chiming Rickenbacker guitars and a melodic, propulsive bassline, can easily dance along while it is actually carrying intense emotions beneath the facade. In the lyrics, Wu is opening up to himself: tiredness, indecision, and the ease with which he makes excuses. His singing is low-key but firm, thus stressing the song's message of taking action rather than giving in to anxiety. Better Way doesn't go for drama; it's more about the resolution and the subtle assurance is what makes it pack a stronger punch.
