Doctor Black’s "Tales from the Void" – A fierce and vulnerable album.

Doctor Black’s 11-track album fuses punk, metal, and post-hardcore into a relentless sonic catharsis.
Doctor Black

Doctor Black, a UK multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Rob Rees' project is the explosion of emotion that seems to be, on one hand, personal, and on the other hand, it is out of control. Rees brought to this first album, Tales from the Void, the collection of songs he wrote during lockdown, and which were all recorded solo. The record, in terms of mood, is a little wild; on the one hand, it can be seen/heard to be emoting its sorrow and rage, yet it is tinted with some more mellower aspects and even some virtuosity in it.

"Doctor Black’s album is a stormy but also tuneful journey through turmoil and release."

Doctor Black

The album comprises 11 songs, each of which pans out to be totally different from the others but still linked by the use of the common ground, which is Rees’s combination of punk, metal, and post-hardcore. The quality singles of the album, such as “Drag Me Down” and “Rope,” possess indomitable spirits, as they break into the listener's mind with their riffs and grooves.
