Chris Oledude, also known as Chris Owens, is one of those artists whose music feels connected to real life and real experiences. Having been born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York, he was raised in a household where music was always present. His mother was his first music teacher, and his father, Major R. Owens, was deeply involved in public service. Chris started performing back in the 1980s on the streets of New York and in different bands, often making music with his brothers, including actor Geoffrey Owens. For many years Chris focused more on activism than music, but later in life he returned to songwriting with a new identity 'Chris Oledude' and a renewed mission to create music that reflects the times we live in.
“The Choice” is a reflective rock song about responsibility and the planet.

“The Choice” is a thoughtful rock song that talks about something simple but important the decisions we make and how they affect the world around us. The track was inspired by the Hudson River and environmental activism, something that connects back to Pete Seeger’s legacy. Musically, the song has strong classic and progressive rock influences, especially from bands like Jethro Tull and Rush. The Choice is the kind of track that hits differently when you listen to it in a calm moment. A late-night drive, a quiet evening, or even a walk outside would be the perfect time to play it. Overall, the song shows that rock music can still carry meaningful ideas while sounding powerful and engaging at the same time.
