For a band with no guitars, BELLHEADS makes a lot of noise. Their new EP "Threats" is their boldest statement to date.

The bass duo of Chicago, BELLHEAD have returned with "Threats". This is a bold EP with seven songs. It expands their post-punk sound, while also holding onto the moody intensity that first set them apart from others. BELLHEAD is very well-known for their no guitar, dual bass setup. With this EP the duo, Karen Righeimer-Schock and Ivan Russia, push further into dynamic storytelling, musical experimentation, and full-fledged energy.
The EP opens with the title song, "Threats". It sets a tone that is both cinematic and combative. It is a slow burn song that builds into a pulse-pounding anthem. It is steeped in tension and shadow. The EP doesn't disappoint from there. There are songs like "Heart Shaped Hole" and Double Jeopardy" which explore themes of heartbreak, revenge and inner torment. These songs are not afraid of getting dark, twisted, or even brutally honest.

The production of the EP is engineered by Neil Strauch and mastered by Carl Saff. Every single bassline and distorted beat punches with purpose. It also maintains the gritty, and unpolished edge the fans expect from the duo. BELLHEAD has also leaned into collaboration in this EP. The Stabbing Westward remix of "Bad Taste" adds a pounding energy of a club, along with the vocals from Chris Hall. Also, Darkwave's Clubdrugs turns the "Heart Shaped Hole" into a woozy, haunted remix that hits like a nightmare one can't wake up from.
The band's evolution, both in terms of music and visuals, is especially striking. BELLHEAD famous for their black and white branding, has this time swapped that for bold yellow and a more confrontational visual identity. It is a very subtle but yet a very meaningful shift that match the vulnerability and honesty found throughout "Threats".
"As an EP, 'Threats' is loud, layered, and alive with intent."
BELLHEAD already have performed in over 50 shows in the past year. This has proved that they are not just a studio project but a relentless live act with something to say. "Threats" offers no apologies. It is pure confrontation. It is a striking reminder that even in an era of oversaturation, authenticity still cuts through.
If you like your music unapologetically bold, BELLHEAD just delivered your new favourite EP!
