Ani Even channels ritualistic techno with "Wannabe Woke-Foe".

Industrial Rhythms Clash with Digital Defiance in Ani Evens Wannabe Woke-Foe.

Ani Even - Wannabe Woke-Foe

The music of Ani Even comes from Copenhagen, created through machines and memories. He uses beats to tell the histories of his three ancestral lineages: Greenlandic, Faroese, and Danish. Ani creates a fusion of rhythms from both ancient chants that were created long before electricity, and industrial pulse beats. Ani refers to his music as being caverave: dark, heavy sound that has the ability to create a feeling of physical movement through soundwaves and echoes. He was previously a choir member, but today he is one of the most dynamic performers alive, creating an intense volume and power of live musical sound. The traditional rites that created the sounds of the past collide with the sounds of the present, while raising self-reflective questions about who we are.

A shadow moves through sound, shaped by machines. Wannabe Woke-Foe rhythm resists order, born from noise that refuses silence.

Ani Even - Wannabe Woke-Foe

The song "Wannabe Woke-Foe" is a very aggressive and original piece of industrial techno from Ani Even. From the beginning, there are subtle references to galloping horses along with whispery, eerie vocals. However, after a few seconds, the tempo completely but gradually increases, adding in thick synthesisers and driving beats. A chanting voice fits nicely into the tempo/instrumental pacing of the piece. The lyrics/sound reflect the emptiness of our digital culture and the lack of real human interaction today. The combination of the two creates a very intense mix, keeping the listener on high alert. "Wannabe Woke-Foe" stands alone as both bold, rhythmic and emotional. There is never a quiet moment where sound dissipates; rather, the musical rhythms are presented in such a consistent manner that listeners will always feel immersed in the raw physicality of the work.

This work does not intend to calm its listeners; rather, it requires them to experience it as well.
